About Me
| | Here I am with mystery writer Chester Campbell (visit Chester here) as my alter ego Myrtle Crumb. We were at the Southern Publishers & Writers Expo in Abingdon, Virginia. When I'm not clowning around as Myrtle, I'm generally just clowning around and trying to stay out of trouble. And, no, I don't always succeed. Here are two of my favorite people to clown around with, my children Nicholas and Lianna. I enjoy clowning with their father, too, who is in the photo behind the children's heads. :-) Incidentally, the photo in the orange frame beside the family photo is of Lianna, Nicholas and Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler), who they met at Book Expo America in May of 2006. | |
Weird Pets
Here lie Pepper and Shellie. . . . Sort of sounds like an epitaph, doesn't it? Both are rescued pets. Shellie is a purebred Sheltie, and Pepper is a spoiled-rotten cat. We have another dog, Holly, who isn't in this picture. She is part Whippet and part Airedale. We've had her since she was a puppy. She's a skinny, long-legged beast who can run nearly as fast as a cheetah and is as sweet as can be. We also have adopted a feral cat and her three kittens. They are living in a patch of near-wilderness at the back of our property line. I've been trying to coax Mom and her babies out to me for weeks, but I'm not having any luck. I take them food, and they wait until I get back to the house before they'll come out and eat. Daddy Cat, however (at least, I think he's Daddy Cat), has allowed me to pet him on two occasions. I was delighted! He has gorgeous blue eyes.

Who Cares If They're Losing?
We still like our Dolphins. I've never been much of a football fan, but my husband is a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan. So is my son, thanks to Dad. ;-) Anyway, we got the opportunity to see the Dolphins play the Carolina Panthers in August of 2006. The game was okay (no, "we" didn't win), but after the game was great. We got to meet Dan Marino, Zach Thomas, Joey Harrington, Kevin Clark, Vonnie Holiday, Randy McMichael, Justin Peele, and Jason Rader (whose parents we also met and who we've adopted as our very own pro football player. Everybody should have one!). I interviewed some of the guys in the locker room after the game. Later Tim (my hubby) teased me when, after everyone else had gone to bed, I stayed up late and watched a close game on TV. I told him, "Honey, after you've seen those men naked, you feel a certain obligation to watch their game!" [By the way, all men I saw were wearing towels . . . or they'd already gotten dressed.] I did learn some interesting information about locker rooms: you cannot take still photographs in a locker room, but you can film. How weird is that? |
